The Milwaukee Peer Support Academy, an initiative sponsored by the Milwaukee County Department of Health and Human Services, aims to enhance community health through the direction of Wisconsin Community Services, in partnership with INPOWER, HealthyMKE, the Community Mental Health and Wellness Alliance, and other community leaders and stakeholders. Our goal is to recruit, train, and deploy 88 peer support specialists over the next year, enhancing mental health and substance abuse support in Milwaukee County.

Our mission focuses on improving access to support, empowering individuals through peer support, building community resilience, and promoting collaborative health services. By ensuring that peer support specialists are trained to high standards of quality and consistency, under the guidance of the Wisconsin Peer Specialist Employment Initiative, we're taking a significant step towards integrating peer support into our community's health framework.

By building strong partnerships and conducting public awareness campaigns, we aim to address mental health and substance use challenges, reduce stigma, and foster a more empathetic community approach.
